Boston, here we go! Lawson's is pleased to participate in this year's BeerAdvocate Night of the Funk, part of the 2-day Belgian Beer Festival in Boston, MA at the Cyclorama (Boston Center for the Arts). I'll be there on Friday, November 5th starting at 6pm serving up three unusual varieties of Lawson's Finest Liquids for your funktastic sipping. I haven't offered sour or wild ales as a regular part of our line-up, however, I've been having fun with one-batch special releases for festival events over the last several years. I work primarily with isolated strains of Brettanomyces wild yeast, and I'll offer three different varieties at NOTF. All are fairly young, in terms of aging, as Brett. brews continue to mature for many months.
Maple on Brett - A robust Vermont Maple ale, fermented with 100% Brettanomyces Bruxellensis. Mild barnyard character. 8% abv
Mad Wild Grapes - Our wild blonde ale, rested on crushed wild grapes harvested along the riparian areas of the Mad River Valley. Light, slightly tart, and purple! 6% abv
Funky Sunshine - An American IPA, fermented entirely with Brett. Fruity, herbal, and funky. 7% abv
Locally, the Warren Store will be well-stocked on Friday morning with Maple Nipple Ale, Knockout Blonde Ale, 292 Hoptoberfest Ale, and Big Hapi IBA. American Flatbread will have the Dunkelweiss dark wheat ale on tap this weekend, along with another brew. The Common Mad Restaurant re-opens this evening, 11/4, with their Thursday Bistro special ($16pp two-course meal!) and the Maple Nipple Ale. The Village Porch in Rochester, VT has the 292 Hoptoberfest Ale on tap this weekend. The Pitcher Inn is closed for fall break until Nov. 24th.
