On March 5th, Lawson's Finest Triple Play IPA was honored as the National IPA Champion by Brewing News! This annual tournament is held in a March Madness style single elimination head to head competition in seven rounds. You can click here to see the brackets and all the competitors.
The field of 128 different India Pale Ales includes well known breweries such as Sierra Nevada, Harpoon, and Sam Adams, as well as some of the most highly awarded IPA's from west-coast breweries such as Ballast Point, Firestone Walker, Port Brewing, and more!
I am thrilled and honored that our little brewery took the crown! The Triple Play IPA is one of our new recipes, and is based on my Double Sunshine IPA (8%), only with additional hop varieties, and a lower alchol content (6.5%). The beer is brewed with Citra, Simcoe, and Centennial hops and features a tantalizing floral aroma, layers of juicy tropical hop flavor, and just enough malt backbone to stand up to a triple punch of bitterness.
I've had lots of fun with this name, which fits into my love of baseball theme....such as Triple Play IPA - goes all the way! And "No batter beer!" - which you'll find right on the label. Many cheers to you all, and thanks for joining on us on this fun ride!

ReplyDeletecoming from the little brew house in your yard. I can't stop grinning ...also very thirsty
WhooHoo! I am bound and determined to have a bitter, I mean batter, no make that a triple play, relationship with this IPA, just as soon as I can find one. Cause I really need a little tropical flavor about now. So proud of the little brew house on the hill.
ReplyDeleteawesome! congratulations. Will this be available at the warren store Friday?
ReplyDeleteAll gone for now....Just brewed a fresh batch of Triple Play IPA today! It should hit the Warren store during the first full week of April, and during the first week of MLB regular season baseball. Woohoo! Spring skiing is coming :)
